My Mum, the Palestinian Chef by HANEEN [Photo Essay]

GAZA, PALESTINE — I would like to introduce you to the loveliest person in my family: my mom. Every Friday we have special foods made by her loving hands, guided by her wonderful and powerful soul.

“As a woman, I am a mother and I really feel comfortable and love cooking for my family,” she says. Every Friday we have a traditional food called “fatta,” which contains rice, thin bread and chicken. But in these photos, I share something different with you: another Arab traditional food called “molokheya,” which is a green plant with chicken soup and garlic. She adds some lemon and pepper to make the taste really wonderful. My mother teaches love in her own way, as everyone can and should.
